Expertise in audiovisual archives collections

Ina has become a reference in the preservation and digitisation of audiovisual archives. Today, it makes that expertise available to companies and institutions that have audiovisual collections in either physical or digital form. Ina teams carry out audits and offer advice, which enables them to take stock of the collections with a view to digitisation.

Preserving your collections
  • Ina can assist you in auditing your collections, by analysing and mapping them.
  • After this initial appraisal, our teams will determine an archiving policy with you and advise you on the procedure to follow to digitise your different media, in view of your users’ requirements.
Documentation
  • Indexing, cataloguing and enhancing your content are essential, but often not clearly identified stages, in the process of enhancing your audiovisual heritage.
  • Ina will draw up a documenting policy with you to make your collections totally accessible and pertinent.
Managing digital media
  • Organising your media will require setting up processes and tools. Which functions should you choose depending on your audience and their uses? What is the best way for them to access content, and which platforms should they view?
  • We will discuss these questions with you to define the best technical solution.
Legal management of your collections
  • Proper rights management is a key issue in the use of your images, sounds and data.
  • Ina’s experience and the exceptional variety of its collections enables it to advise you on the right methods to employ to ensure a secure use of your resources, in compliance with image-related rights.
Content enhancement
  • Content management, story telling and brand content: how can your collections serve your marketing and communication strategy?
  • As a producer of audiovisual creations, Ina can advise you on “setting the stage” for your content.

Some recent achievements

Ina works with the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information to preserve the national radio heritage. The assignment involves auditing radio tapes, CDs and files, outlining a digitisation plan and managing digitised content. Since 2013, Ina has also worked with the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information and Kuwait TV to oversee the digitisation and management of the video archives, and the deployment of a Media Asset Management system, Hardware Security Module (HSM) and robotics.

In Algiers, Ina organises training modules on the jobs and issues related to processing posters, photographs, film and digital files throughout the archiving process, as part of a programme to support the preservation of the Algerian cultural heritage, financed by the European Union and the Algerian Ministry of Culture. No fewer than 20 training experts from various institutions and heritage companies  (BNF, National Archives, French Cinémathèque, Toulouse Cinémathèque) worked on the educational content of these courses.

Finally, the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF) entrusted Ina with the audit of the African Union for Radiodiffusion archives, as part of a protocol agreement between the two institutions in 2016. This major collection was built up over 30 years of exchanging programmes between African states (35 countries represented). This assignment is part of a more global project to assist the Union in the digitisation of its archives.
