madelen: winner of the Achievement Award in Use and Promotion of Archives credited by the International Federation of Television Archives

The Achievement Award in Use and Promotion of Archives was given to the VoD streaming platform madelen at the World Conference of the International Federation of Television Archives (IASA-FIAT / IFTA) on 27 October 2020. This prize recognises the collaborative work across departments at INA and the way the Institute has adapted to the needs of the general public.
By awarding this prize, the FIAT / IFTA jury praised the work of the entire Institute. "The strength of the madelen platform is derived largely from the fact that it was created as a result of the collaborative work between the different departments of INA - collections, technology, communications, legal department, and so forth", noted the jury, praising the platform’s goal "to bring the distribution of archives to the general public for their entertainment".
The FIAT Conference brings together professionals from across the world on an annual basis. INA has been involved since it was founded in 1976. The 2020 conference was held entirely online on the theme “Collaborate, Connect, Transform”. It was organised simultaneously with the Conference of the International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives (IASA), of which INA is also an active member.
Among their numerous interventions, INA’s teams had the opportunity to share their 12 years’ experience of working on French overseas archives and the innovative methods used by INA to manage its collections. One of the landmark projects carried out with external partners in recent years was presented at a round table: the mentoring of the Mongolian association Tavan Nud by the Radio Archives team from the Technical Operations Department of INA.
INA has also been organising a half-day workshop over the last two years as part of the FRAME training programme at the FIAT conference. The workshop examined international cooperation in the field of training.
